We’ve prepared for the Robocon 2009 for almost ten months. In the rehearsal yesterday, we were the best team as well as the first team to hit those victory drums. It was really exhilarating for us to beat other universities especially UST. Even we never dream about the champion after watched the video of China team, we meant to attend the Robocon 2009 Tokyo.

Similar to last year, PolyU team likely became the most favorite team and everyone admired the outlook of those robots. During the contest, the situation was exactly the same as rehearsal that we was the first team to hit the victory drums in first round. Nevertheless, HKU team improved their boarding task within a midnight and travelled to the goal area with a very stable performance. Eventually, we got the 2nd Runner-up and the Best Artistic Design Award. It was a little bit disappointing to me that we couldn’t achieve our best time as same as the testing in Big Car Room. However, we already performed our best during the contest. I was totally satisfied the result. Well done, PolyUltima!!

For me, Robocon is absolutely a remarkable experience. I remember that I claimed to win the champion for PolyU in Science Park last year. Thus, I paid all my effort to enhance the performance of the manual robot. Finally I realized that changing things wasn’t easy no matter how strong passionate I have. Even if I spent all the time staying in Big Car Room, the situation was still unchanged. I was nobody.

Travel Together for the Victory Drums is the theme in this year. “Together” is the key point for the champion. It depends everything! Honestly, our team spirit wasn’t too weak but the communication. Sometimes we couldn’t express our feeling directly even hiding the truth. Anyway I pretty enjoyed to work with my team mates. They gave a great deal of happiness and supports to me. Thank all of them.

Robocon is also an excellent opportunity to exchange robotic knowledge between each universities. I feel really glad to be friends with HKU students. It’s a precious moment when we were sharing things in the end of the contest. Moreover, I admire the team spirit of CUHK because they all enjoyed the contest with exhilaration. Although I treat UST as my foe, I was kinda frustrated if I were their side.
Finally, Robocon was end. I got everything I wanted. Thanks God! Robocon is absolutely a huge thing in my life. I made it.

Time: 2:30p.m.

I was really gald that we made a faster record. However, we felt shocked when watching a video of one of China teams. They got a really fast record, just 18 second! Anyway we have already made a great improvement recently. Keep on!

There is none without a fault. We cannot do things perfectly. What we can do is just to minimise our mistakes.

A week will pass very soon after Wednesday so we should spend all the time on Robocon. There is no more leisure time for next ten days. Let’s travel together for the victory drums.

22/6 was the vetting day for three robots and we got a chance to test our programs in a real game field of the competition.  It’s pretty disappointing that we couldn’t complete a full path once because of a wrong complier. Nevertheless, we found out a list of improvements after those testing. Eventually we AM and MM can successfully travel together ten times in Big Car Room 2 in the midnight. Thank God!

It is absolutely an essential moment for all Robocon teammates. It assumes that we should focus on the testing rather than attempting alternatives. However, a series of hardware problems have occurred due to “try and error” in these three days. Those things slowed down our progress seriously.

The task of borading has almost completed within a sufficient time. The task of mountain pass has still got some problems. Forest path has been kinda stable but still needed to improve the response time and speed. Nevertheless, it was expected to happen on Feb. Anyway, today was really a breakthrough. Keep on!

Sleeping is really a precious moment for me to recharge myself. Thank God for give us a Sunday after six working days.
